Country Road in Provence marked a significant time for Vincent van Gogh, where he created this captivating piece as a final reminder of his stay in Saint-Remy at the asylum.  van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo of the symbolism cypress trees had for him describing them as beautiful with lines and proportions like an Egyptian obelisk.  van Gogh experiments further with his use of colour and brushwork in Country Road in Provence which is composed of graceful forms and swirling lines - the short, rhythmic wavy brushstrokes placed side by side give this painting great vitality and life.

If you choose to frame your art with us - feel safe in the knowledge that we collaborate with an expert framer, who delivers quality custom frames and has been in the framing business for over 20 years.

You will find that our framing costs are more reasonable than your local framer, due to our business being purely online.

Being online means we have lower overheads than a typical art and framing business which provides us the opportunity to pass those savings onto you, without losing any of the quality or craftsmanship of an experienced framer. All of our frames are custom made using sustainably sourced wood and we use glass not perspex in our frames.

We also offer three popular finishes of black, white and natural timber. All of our frames have a smooth, matte finish and have a solid structure with classic design elements that do not disappoint. You will find that a large amount of our art is encompassed by an approx. 5cm white border around the main image. We have done this to minimise additional costs associated with mat boards, which we do not supply as part of our framing process.

Once you have placed your order, your frame will take on average between 7 - 10 business days to make and 24hrs to securely pack and get ready to ship to your desired destination.

The Artist

VINCENT VAN GOGH

VINCENT VAN GOGH

Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853 - 1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art.

In just over a decade, Van Gogh created about 2,100 artworks, including some 860 oil paintings. They include landscapes, still life's, portraits and self-portraits and are characterised by bold colours and dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern art.

Van Gogh became famous after his death and exists in the public imagination as the quintessential misunderstood genius, the artist "where discourses on madness and creativity converge".

Van Gogh's works are among the world's most expensive paintings to have ever sold and his legacy is honoured by a museum in his name, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, which holds the world's largest collection of his paintings and drawings.
