Banksy's Stained Glass Window was created for the first major US museum exhibition of street art and graffiti at the MOCA's Art in the Street in 2011.  Banksy's Stained Glass Window stood 23 foot high and was a collaborative effort as Banksy enlisted the help of students from the City of Angels School in Los Angeles.  Panels were erected at the school and the students were encouraged to tag them with their own personal designs and messages.  Banksy then used the children's efforts as the stained glass panels of the windows. The irreverent child kneeling in front draws extra light in this piece and encourages the viewer to convert this piece from museum worthy to a church effigy as well as the elevation of graffiti to high art.  A stunning piece of contemporary graffiti history worthy of a special place in a modern inspired interior decor setting.

This art print is printed on premium museum grade paper and is paired with archival inks for a superior finish.

If you choose to frame your art with us - feel safe in the knowledge that we collaborate with an expert framer, who delivers quality custom frames and has been in the framing business for over 20 years.

You will find that our framing costs are more reasonable than your local framer, due to our business being purely online.

Being online means we have lower overheads than a typical art and framing business which provides us the opportunity to pass those savings onto you, without losing any of the quality or craftsmanship of an experienced framer. All of our frames are custom made using sustainably sourced wood and we use glass not perspex in our frames.

We also offer three popular finishes of black, white and natural timber. All of our frames have a smooth, matte finish and have a solid structure with classic design elements that do not disappoint. You will find that a large amount of our art is encompassed by an approx. 5cm white border around the main image. We have done this to minimise additional costs associated with mat boards, which we do not supply as part of our framing process.

Once you have placed your order, your frame will take on average between 7 - 10 business days to make and 24hrs to securely pack and get ready to ship to your desired destination.

The Artist

BANKSY

BANKSY

Banksy is an anonymous Bristol, England based street artist, political activist and film director, active since the 1990s.

His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine irreverent wit executed in his trademark graffiti stencilling technique.  Banksy's works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, bridges of cities and art displays throughout the world.  Gaining notoriety through a range of urban stages by modifying street signs to illegally hanging his own art in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Louvre.

Leaving his mark on cities with his signature parachuting rat and paying homage to Queen Elizabeth (during her jubilee celebrations) to graffitiing “We’re bored of fish” above a penguins’ zoo enclosure, Banksy creates street art with humour and satire with a international reputation that precedes his anonymous identity. Most often using spray paint and stencils, Banksy has created a famous signature, immediately identifiable graphic style with a recurring cast of celebrities, soldiers, cops and children through which he critically examines current issues of political authority, consumerism and the status of art.
