This enchanting Black Acrobats by Henri Matisse was originally a blue coloured lithograph, made from gouache decoupees (cut-outs) which were then glued onto paper. Black Acrobats depicts two female nude models arching backwards with one arm out stretched to the ground, almost abstract in composition, but on further inspection there are two clear models, bending, stretching and arching in their enviable synced acrobatic pose. What gives the nudes considerable clarity of impact is the curved lines and the emphatic exaggeration of limbs and the simple, elegant black and white colour palette. A stunning balance has been struck between organic and geometric form which creates a captivating statement piece at any size and worthy of a special place in a bedroom, hallway, living room or bathroom space.

Unframed Art Prints

All unframed art prints are shipped within 24hrs to 48hrs after your order has been placed.

If your order is placed after midday Friday, your order will be shipped on the following Monday.

All orders receive free tracking and we will update you via email or text message during each stage of the shipping process.

Shipping delivery times are between 2 - 4 days and if you live rurally you will need to add an additional 1 - 2 days.

We provide tracking for every art print that is shipped and you can track your order day and night on the Australia Post or Aramex website here;

The Artist

HENRI MATISSE

Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) is one of the undisputed masters of 20th century art. Matisse, a French artist, draughtsman, printmaker, sculptor but more prominently known as a painter.

Matisse is commonly regarded, alongside Pablo Picasso and Marcel Duchamp, as one of the three artists who helped to define the revolutionary developments in the arts throughout the opening decades of the 20th century.

By the 1920s Matisse was increasingly hailed as the pillar of classical French painting. His mastery and expressive use of colour and composition, displayed in a body of work spanning over a half-century, won him recognition as a leading figure in modern art.
