Rene Vincent (1879 - 1936) was born in Bordeaux, France and was a celebrated French illustrator who lived and worked in Paris for the majority of his life and became famous for his Art Decor poster designs. Vincent made his name during the advertising poster boom in the early 20th century, where he was commissioned by some of the leading brands of the time such as Harper's Bazaar, Bugatti, Peugeot, Michelin and Shell Oil Company. Rene Vincent was influential in the Art Deco movement in the period between the two world wars. His illustrations helped define advertising in the 20th century, with his most recognisable work being Porto Ramos Pinto in 1925.
